New Years Goals to Support Nature-based Climate Solutions in 2026

As we head into 2026, we want to encourage you to add just one or two nature-based goals to your list! You don’t have to plant a forest or start a regenerative farm to support nature this coming year. We actually encourage you to start by setting small attainable goals instead. Here are a few ideas:

1. Grow 1-2 native plants—if you have a garden, small or large, consider adding just 1 or 2 natives like bee balm or coreopsis to support native insects and biodiversity. Check out Wild Ones Front Range seed swaps and sow bag events for more information on how to start!

2. Start a small garden—even small yards and balconies can host a garden. Try tomatoes and peppers in containers!

3. Plant 1 or 2 trees—in your yard, or volunteer to help grow the tree canopy with a local nonprofit. Check out the PLAY Boulder Foundation/Tree Trust to get involved.

4. Start composting—composting can support the soil in your garden and close the waste loop! All you need is a small countertop bin to start. Check out Eco-Cycle’s resources on Composting and Carbon Farming for more info!

Happy New Year! May your 2026 be full of climate action :)
