Mosquito Control: Science, Risks, and Solutions Webinar

What: With a flier in the mail or a door-to-door sales visit, you’ll notice many mosquito control companies offering to spray your yard this time of year. Though this may seem like a quick and easy way to deal with mosquitoes, it’s often an ineffective control strategy. Worse, these insecticides are toxic to pollinators and other beneficial insects and may pose a risk to people, too. Join us to discuss what we know about the risks residential mosquito sprays pose to pollinators, including data from a Xerces Society study investigating insecticide drift into neighboring yards.

The good news: mosquito control doesn’t have to be toxic. We will also discuss practical, more effective methods of mosquito control in residential landscapes and communities, with policy solutions for mitigating harm from mosquito control services.
