Seeds: Cleaning with OSMP in Boulder

  • 2520 55th Street Boulder, CO, 80301 United States (map)

What: Cleaning native seeds is a great way to give back, hang out with staff from the City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks (OSMP) and other Wildlands Restoration Volunteers (WRV) community members, while learning more about local botany in a relaxing setting.

Volunteers will work on seeds collected on Boulder OSMP lands. The seeds have dried at the OSMP offices and we need your help to prepare them for restoration projects. Specifically we will work on Achillea millefolium (Common yarrow) and Colorado's state grass Bouteloua gracilis (Blue Grama).

Seed cleaning is an essential activity for our native seed agency partners, as native seeds are hard to purchase commercially. By cleaning seeds for restoration, you help to ensure that more native plants are used in restoration projects, which preserves native biodiversity and supports more resilient ecosystems.
