What: Join Dr. Paul Alaback on this field trip to Rabbit Mountain to learn about early Spring wildflowers around Boulder County. We will also observe the timing or phenology of plants on Rabbit Mountain which should be particularly interesting due to this year's dry, warm winter. Studies of phenology are particularly important today as they can help us better understand how climate change is unfolding across the country and Boulder County.
Paul has been studying the ecology and conservation of temperate forests and landscapes for over 30 years. Paul received his PhD at Oregon State University, was professor of forest ecology at University of Montana for 20 years, and was one of the scientists who helped found Project Budburst.
