Art of Activism: Habitat Restoration and Art Practice

What: In this panel discussion, four panelists, experts in the fields of habitat restoration and creative practice, will converse about the intersectional projects they’ve collaborated on. They will share ideas for how you can activate your community, and how to connect with new audiences through innovative programming.

They’ll discuss examples, including community-centered artist projects and native plant restoration efforts for pollinators in Pennsylvania, and how a small scale native plant nursery and arts activist collaborate to show the importance of an Endangered Species Act listed bee in Ohio.

Native plant experts Diane Kadonaga and Cynthia Blackwood with artists Kenia LaMarr and Rebecca Schultz will discuss site-specific projects they have completed including native habitat installation, pollinator and arts festivals, a mural representing the 50th Anniversary of the Endangered Species Act, workshops, and community-centered arts actions. Audience members will have the opportunity to ask questions and learn approaches to inspire action in your own community
