Regenerating Soil with Mushrooms Part 2: History, ecology, and restoration intersect on Open Space and Mountain Parks Field Program

  • N 51st st. and Kelso road Colorado, 80301 United States (map)

What: Spend a morning on the former Gallagher property exploring how history, ecology, and restoration intersect on Open Space and Mountain Parks (OSMP). As seen in the PBS documentary Peaks to Prairie: A Holistic Regenerative Approach, this guided field program visits the Gallagher property, a former multigenerational dairy farm and ranch property now owned and managed by OSMP, where researchers and land managers are testing innovative approaches to restoring degraded agricultural soils.  We’ll also explore the long agricultural history of the Gallagher property whose stewardship shaped these lands for generations before they became part of the open space system.
