Fruit Preparation and Preservation for Kids and Families

What: In this fun, hands-on, expert-led class, children and their grown-ups will learn the basics of safe food preparation and simple preservation methods using freshly rescued Community Fruit Rescue apples and pears. Together, explore tasty and creative ways to make the most of the harvest and make applesauce on both the stovetop and in the microwave, use a food dehydrator and oven to create yummy apple chips and fruit leather, and make a pear crisp.

  • Details:

    • Registration is required and costs $30 per (1) parent + (1) child pair, with the option to add one more child for $5.​ Financial assistance available in limited quantities; contact info@fruitrescue.org if you are in need of financial support prior to the workshop.

    • Due to the size of the kitchen space and to ensure little chefs stay safe and well-supported, registration is limited to one parent and one child per family, with the option to add one additional child.
