Ecosystem Health and Resilience Series: Cattle Grazing and Reducing Wildfire Fuels

  • Chautauqua Ranger Cottage (map)

What: What does it take to reduce wildfire risk before a fire even starts? Join OSMP staff for an in-the-field look at how we manage fuels and support ecosystem health across the landscape.

On this easy 1.5-mile walk, you'll learn how tools like grazing, mowing, prescribed fire, and thinning are planned and put to work. We'll connect the science, the strategy, and the results you can see on the ground, showing how OSMP staff and the community work together to reduce fire risk and build a more resilient landscape.

Timing is everything for this one: cattle will be grazing in the area during our walk! You'll get to watch them in action while you learn how OSMP's cattle grazing program fits into the bigger picture of wildfire fuel reduction.
