Beaver Moon Hike

  • Aquarius Trailhead Louisville, CO (map)

What: Hosted by Friends of Coal Creek: The Coal Creek beaver moved on, but we can still celebrate the wonderful contributions beavers made to our ecosystem under November’s full moon — the beaver moon. How does nature prepare for winter? How do you prepare? Lead by Writer-in-residence Erin Robertson, we’ll examine how the changing of seasons, the shorter days and longer nights, affect the rhythms of our lives.

Expect a mellow hike of about 1.5-2 miles, roundtrip, along the Coal Creek Trail. We’ll have a chance to look and listen for the nocturnal residents of the creek: great horned owls, coyotes, turkeys and the last hardy crickets of summer.”
