Marshall Fire Support

The 2021 Marshall devastated our community and has illuminated the importance of mutual aid and preparation in the face of wildfire conditions. Many local organizations, including the ones listed below, have come together to offer their services in support of Marshall Fire recovery. Please visit our Fire and Landscaping page for more resources on landscape restoration and risk mitigation.

  • The Marshall Fire tree team is working hard with the Arbor Day Foundation, PLAY Boulder, Colorado Tree Coalition, Trees Across Colorado and others to source trees for homeowners moving into their homes in Spring 2024 or Fall 2024. We do not have details on the number of trees or types of trees yet. If you would like to be contacted with details, please fill out this form.

  • PLAY Boulder Foundation was established in 1976 as an independent 501(c)(3) and is the official non-profit partner of the City of Boulder Parks and Rec. We are fortunate to be able to extend our work throughout all of Boulder County.

Our mission is to support excellence in parks and recreation by mobilizing community support through education, philanthropy, and advocacy. We help enhance local public spaces, preserve the natural environment in Boulder, and expand access to recreation programs. Our major initiatives in 2023 have included the Tree Trust (planted and distributed more than 1250 trees) and our PLAYpass program (provided financial support for recreation programs to more than 200 Boulder youth).

The Tree Trust is a program led by the PLAY Boulder Foundation to work with community members and other organizations to support the growth of trees in Boulder and promote a healthy urban tree canopy for generations to come. Our goals are to help distribute and plant trees, educate community members as Tree Tenders, and empower the community by providing resources to care for and grow our urban tree canopy.

  • Wildfire Partners is Boulder County’s wildfire mitigation program. We support collective and personal action to create wildfire-resilient communities across Boulder County because:

    · Wildfire mitigation is an important part of Boulder County’s efforts towards sustainability and climate resilience.

    · Homes, structures, and landscapes that are fire-hardened stand a better chance of surviving the next wildfire.

    · Wildfire mitigation is not a one-time event; homeowners must maintain mitigation for it to be effective.

    · Working together on wildfire mitigation is essential to keeping our communities safe.

    · When it comes to wildfire mitigation, education is only effective when it motivates people to take action.

We offer education, advising on science and best practices, technical assistance, community chipping, and limited financial incentives to help communities and homeowners understand and accomplish wildfire mitigation.
